Facial Rejuvenation Treatments that Will Leave Your Skin Looking and Feeling Youthful Again

Facial rejuvenation treatments can help you look as young as you feel without the time and inconvenience required for cosmetic surgery. These nonsurgical procedures can erase years of damage caused by the sun, pollution, and aging with just a short office visit.

With so many options for treatment, it’s important to work with an experienced plastic surgeon to get the results you desire. Wasingtonian and Northern Virginia Magazine Board-Certified Top Plastic Surgeon Dr. Kirit Bhatt, MD of Rejuve Plastic Surgery in McLean, Virginia has extensive experience helping patients restore their youthful appearance. Dr. Bhatt determines the treatment that’s right for you based on the condition of your skin and your cosmetic goals. Dr. Bhatt also sees patients from Leesburg, Ashburn, Middleburg, Vienna, Great Falls, Northern Virginia, Washington DC, and Maryland.

Wrinkle-reducing injections

Wrinkle-reducing injections include BOTOX Cosmetic and Dysport Injectables. These injections contain different types of neurotoxins derived from botulinum toxins. When injected properly at the site of a wrinkle, the neurotoxins temporarily relax the muscles under the skin. When the muscle relaxes, your skin becomes smoother on the surface.

Both BOTOX and Dysport provide dramatic relief from the following conditions:

Wrinkle-reducing injections require just a few minutes of treatment time. When finished, you can resume your normal activities immediately. You’ll typically see results within a few days. While you won’t get permanent changes, you’ll enjoy your new look for about four months.

Dermal fillers

Juvéderm® XC and Restylane® injectable gels are both dermal fillers that contain hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the body, delivering nutrients and hydration and acting as a cushioning agent. As you lose hyaluronic acid with age, you experience a loss of skin structure and volume.

The active ingredient in Juvéderm and Restylane replenishes the cushioning effect in the areas where it’s injected under the skin. Each procedure takes less than an hour. While you can resume normal activities immediately, you must avoid strenuous exercise, excessive sun or heat exposure, and alcohol consumption for the first 24 hours. You’ll see immediate results that will last from six months to a year.

Both Juvéderm and Restylane improve the following conditions:

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels remove the damaged outer layer of your skin to reveal a smoother, younger-looking complexion. Chemical peels range from mild to strong and use the following ingredients based on the desired results: alpha hydroxy acid (AHA), trichloroacetic acid (TCA), or phenol.

A chemical peel starts with a facial cleansing, followed by application of the solution. For a TCA or phenol peel, petroleum jelly or waterproof adhesive tape may be applied after treatment. An AHA peel doesn’t require a post-treatment covering.

After an AHA peel, you may experience temporary redness, flaking, or crusting. A phenol or TCA peel can cause throbbing, reddened skin, crusting or scabbing, and swelling for about a week. You’ll have increased sun sensitivity after a chemical peel, so you’ll have to limit your time in the sun and be sure to use sunscreen when you go out.

Chemical peels can improve the following skin issues:

Microneedling uses a handheld device with multiple tiny needles. As the device rolls over your face, it creates small punctures in the top layer of your skin.

When damage occurs to your skin, it sends a “message” that tells your body to help heal the wounds. In response, your body naturally generates collagen and elastin, which promote new cell growth and repair the damage.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) naturally enhances the effects of microneedling. Plasma, an element of your blood, contains special proteins for cell growth. Dr. Bhatt uses a centrifuge to isolate the PRP from blood drawn from your arm. He then massages the PRP into the microneedling punctures so it’s delivered directly into your skin.

Microneedling and PRP can treat the following skin conditions:
