Revive Your Youthful Appearance this Summer with Dermal Fillers

Benefits of dermal fillers,

Is your body beach-ready but your face isn’t? You can revive your youthful appearance before you hit the sand and sun by using dermal fillers. Injectable fillers allow lines and folds to be plumped out again, removing wrinkles and giving you the look you deserve without committing to a traditional facelift.

What are dermal fillers?

Unlike BOTOX® or its close cousin Dysport®, which paralyze tiny facial muscles to relax wrinkles and fine lines, dermal fillers consist of a gel containing hyaluronic acid (HA), a sugar that occurs naturally in your body. The hyaluronic gel is gently injected using a very fine needle to target lines between the eyes and the folds running from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth.

How do dermal fillers work?

Dr. Bhatt here at Rejuve Plastic Surgery injects the HA gel into the dermis (skin layers) of your face. The gel fills in the gaps between the layers that allow lines and folds to form, gently raising the skin and eliminating wrinkles. He continues the injections along the wrinkle, line, or fold until the gel plumps out your features and makes you look younger.

What is the difference between dermal fillers?

There are several different types of dermal filler available to give your face a fresh, young look. At Rejuve Plastic Surgery, we offer non-surgical facial rejuvenation with several injectable fillers to choose from. Dr. Bhatt will advise you on the best filler for your particular case.

JUVÉDERM® XC

JUVÉDERM XC contains both hyaluronic acid and a small amount of lidocaine, a numbing agent, making the injection process even more comfortable. JUVÉDERM XC is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and is manufactured by the same company that makes BOTOX.

Restylane®

Restylane is also an HA injectable, and it can be used on the glabellar lines (between the eyes), the nasolabial folds (running from nose to mouth), and the lips. Restylane is non-allergenic so most people tolerate it well. There are two variants of Restylane that target other parts of the face as well:

Benefits of dermal fillers

Dermal fillers can provide a longer-lasting effect than muscle paralytics, and they are less invasive than a surgical facelift. In addition, studies show that HA fillers are successful, safe, and predictable. When used on the glabellar lines and nasolabial folds, results are visible immediately and can last six to nine months or even up to a year. Side effects are usually limited to slight swelling or bruising which typically lasts only a couple of days and can be iced to relieve discomfort.
